Concerning Morality

Sunday, December 25th, 2011

Finally, concerning morality, you mention God and satan. And if I understand you correctly, you are asking why is God the good and satan the evil. Let me ask you this: is it good to kill? Is it good to steal? Is it good to destroy? Is it evil to love? is it evil to feed someone who is hungry? Is it evil to give a cup of water to someone who is thirsty? I think that you and I would both agree on these things that it is NOT good to kill, it is not good to steal, it is not good to destroy. All of these things take life away. We see all around us in nature the reproduction of life in the plants, trees, everywhere. Nature screams that LIFE and living and producing is good and fruitful. Therefore, even outside of “god”, we can conclude that morality that is life-producing is good, no? And I believe that we would agree that those same things, killing, stealing and destroying are evil. Thus anything and anyone who functions in these ways has an evil influence on or in or acting upon them. But you see, as an atheist, you MUST, if you are logical, conclude that there is no standard of morality. You cannot ever, and remain truly logical to atheism, say that morality has somehow “evolved” because if there is morality, then the logical conclusion is that there is an ultimate standard of morality, an ultimate standard of good and therefore that had to start somewhere….it didn’t simply “pop into being” out of nowhere, out of water and nitrogen and oxygen….someone sometime made a decision that “this” is the good thing to do in this situation….it did not come from chemical reactions withing them, but rather morality that is outside of them and acting upon the chemicals within them. I know you will want to argue this point again, but I strongly encourage you to get the book I first mentioned, Genetic Entropy, which will really cause you to reexamine your arguments about our chemical make-up and therefore all of this. Ok, I really need to run….thanks for your patience.

God sees and know your skepticism

Sunday, December 25th, 2011

Finally, I do believe that God sees and knows your skepticism. He knows everything about it, and he knows how it was developed in you, who contributed to it, and He is knocking at the door of your heart, even right now, through this entire conversation, lovingly desiring for you to see that He is the one behind the “mountains of evidence” that you say points to his non-existence and that I say shouts of His existence. Science does not explain away God; Science reveals God. Oh, another thing you didn’t address is the *wonderful* scientist Josef Mengele.

Does everything objectively have to be explained?

Sunday, December 25th, 2011

Bottom line question for you: why does EVERYTHING have to be objectively explained for you? The reality of the world we live in is a symbiotic balance of both objective and subjective. Really, I don’t see us getting anywhere anymore, and maybe we should just call this discussion finalized because, again, you need everything “measurable” in life, and the reality of life is not everything is, nor will it be. The spiritual man discerns with his spirit, and the natural man with his flesh. Every person is both spirit and flesh, but you insist on only working and thinking in the flesh, so as long as you remain only functioning in the flesh realm, consciously shutting down and out anything in the spirit of your being, our discussion will simply go around the same mountain again and again. If at some point you are willing to be open to the reality of a spiritual realm and the spirit man within you, then let’s re-open this discussion. I’ve enjoyed it because it has shown me what a truly anti-god, anti-faith, anti-spirit person thinks and believes. My hope and prayer is that both of us will come into the fullness of who we really are, mind, body, spirit and soul.

Spiritual world

Sunday, December 25th, 2011

Upon reflection of my answer to you regarding religion, I know you will be upset about my comment about the muslim faith. You will probably say something like “how can you say that your truth is any more true than theirs?” Well, according to you, ALL of us are completely wrong and deluded in our thinking so what does it matter to you what I believe or what anyone believes? You are the god of your own universe and you have your own way of approaching life, which is to toss out anything and everything that cannot be scientifically proven according to YOUR standards. I say this (not in connection to the muslim faith or religion at all) but in connection with your comments about miracles not being recorded and proven by doctors. Bence, again, I will find you articles and reports of medically documented “proof” that people have been healed supernaturally if you would like. You may ask why aren’t these reported world-wide? Well, DUH, the mainstream media is completely against anything that would even hint there being a God or something being supernatural in origin or in nature. Our western minds have completely shut out the possibility that the spiritual world even exists. You see, the spiritual mind can receive and comprehend that which is spiritual, while the natural mind cannot. that sounds simplistic, but that is the bare bones truth. See how much of a struggle you are having dealing with the spiritual side of reality? That’s because you have shut it down completely and have reduced everything to the very limited realm of the “seen” world when there is an unseen world that is just as real and just as powerful as the seen world. You have shut down half of who you are and are therefore unable to comprehend spiritual truths. You want spiritual truths to take on the form that YOU believe they should, making YOU to be god of your own universe. Ok, now I’m going to go read your three latest responses…..

English studies and religious objectivity

Sunday, December 25th, 2011

I want you to know that I am writing this first response here WITHOUT having read your last three entries. I am purposely not reading them before writing what I am about to write because I don’t want to write in “response” to your latest three responses, but rather some thoughts I believe the Lord brought to my mind and heart. First, I believe you said in an earlier message that you are finding the Bible to be more difficult to read and understand than you thought it would be. This does not surprise me at all. Spiritual truths can only be understood by the spirit within us. You are reading it simply as a book, without the revelation of the Holy Spirit because your spirit-man within you, at this point, is still not alive. Therefore, the spirit behind the book is nonsense to you because you cannot comprehend what God is revealing through His written word only with your intellect. Which brings me to a second, I hope related point. I remember in one of your responses that you want everything in life to be objective and tangible and measurable and anything that is not that is stupid and foolish and should not be trusted or believed in. You mentioned that subjectivity is wrong. This surprises me a bit because of the major you chose in university. You were an English studies major. My understanding of that is that you had to read many authors and their imaginative writings and thoughts which are not based on science but on subjective experience. Do you simply think they too are insane, foolish and stupid because they don’t look at the world from a naturalistic, “objective” perspective? And really, you are a living contradiction of yourself. You say everything must be objectifiable….i.e. must be scientifically measurable to be true…yet you yourself do not live that way. How do I know? Because you love. You hate. You feel. You have a personaliity. I know, I know, you will try to explain that scientists can measure the brain and see that when you love there is a chemical reaction…of course. However, why did you choose to love your girlfriend? There had to have been some subjectivity in that decision. So, to say that you live by and believe only those things which are objective is not being true or honest about your own life and the way you live. Plus,  subjectivity is ALL around us. There is both objectivity and subjectivity and one is not “better” than another, they are simply different and all a part of the great human existence.
